Under the darkness of a dark (new) moon we are encouraged to work on the shadow aspect of ourselves. In order to understand the facets of our shadow we need explore the moments in our lives that have made us stronger and wiser, but that have also softened us. With shadow work we are open to realization and understanding of how amazingly strong we really are.

When we are born and our shadow aspect is not yet formed, we begin to grow and see ourselves separate and individual from the people around us, we begin to form ‘ego’ which us the building blocks to our identity this is shadow and ego taking place. This is where we form judgement on others and decide what is right and wrong in life.

RITUAL

Take a light to this candle. Be alone or in a group, You are about to honour and explore the supressed ideas, feelings, desires, talents and belief systems that we have consciously or unconsciously hidden from ourselves. Powerfully, this can be parts of ourselves that are locked away, that is waiting to be reintegrated or healed.

Black is symbolic of the Dark Goddess

We are doing the work and meeting our shadow to understand where we are suppressing any urges or hidden desires and this can lead to external struggles in our life.

Acceptance is what is needed here to understand your shadow aspect will always be a part of you. The work comes from accepting the light and darkness moves through us in cycles. We have the ability to change and transform ebbing and flowing and bringing to light where we feel stuck.

Remember its ok to feel bad sometimes and make mistakes - what did you learn? what insights do you have? Celebrate this realization. Be at peace with the past, as you move forward. Look at the flame. Thank your shadow aspects for the lessons learned

Use this time to journal, meditate and make simple notes on how you are going to move forward from this point on.
